Sleepover Ideas for Younger Girls

Is it your household’s turn to host the sleepover this weekend for your daughter’s friends? If you haven’t hosted many sleepovers or if you’ve done too many, then you might be finding it difficult to come up with fun activities to keep the girls occupied.  Don’t fret, though, we’ve got plenty of ideas that are sure to give your daughter and her friends a memorable sleepover!

Do It Yourself Jewelry

Most young girls love jewelry, but they also might enjoy the chance to design and create their very own piece of jewelry! For under $20 you can buy a spool of memory wire and an assortment of different types of beads. Lay out a craft area where the girls can easily reach the beads. Measure out enough memory wire to wrap around each girls’ wrist twice, then use a pair of needle nose pliers to bend one end of the wire so that the beads do not fall off. Each girl can then thread their beads onto the wire. Once they have finished threading the beads you can use the pliers to bend the other end of the wire. The end result is a beautiful and totally unique memory bracelet that the girls can show off with pride!

“What’s That Food?” Game

“What’s That Food” is a great game for youngsters! All you need is a blindfold and a few different or unusual foods. The idea of the game is to let each youngster touch and smell a food while being blindfolded to see if they can guess what the food is. For this game you can try anything from dry to wet foods. Half the fun is trying to find a food that is sure to confuse and stump the girls!

Freeze Dance

The freeze dance is a classic game that seems to have been forgotten in recent years. The freeze dance is a game where the girls dance around and be a little crazy while the music is playing. One of the players will be in charge of playing the music. When they pause the music all of the girls must stop dancing. Whoever keeps moving after the music must take their turn in playing and pausing the next song. This is a really great activity for preschool-aged kids that need to get rid of some excess energy before bed!

Fancy Tea Party

What young girl hasn’t dreamed of attending a fancy tea party? By arranging a bona fide tea party you can give your guests a really impressive treat that they are sure to remember! A frilly table cloth, tea cups and serving platters, and actual tea with finger cakes or biscuits are all you need to make your guests feel like they are being given the royal treatment! You can buy pre-packaged tea biscuits (bland or plain biscuits meant to be served with a warm cup of tea) or you can easily make your own. If you want a really special tea party you could even bake finger cakes or miniature cupcakes to serve with the tea. Don’t be afraid to break out the tea pot if you have one! Imagine the looks on your guests’ faces when you pour their tea directly from a tea pot…!

Princess Movie Marathon and Dress Up

If your guests are fans of princess movies, then this idea is sure to be a big hit at your next sleepover! There are plenty of old and new, animated and realistic princess movies that you can add to your flick marathon. Think of the movies that you might have enjoyed, such as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White. You can also include Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Princess Diaries, Barbie Princess, and Shrek. The princess flick marathon is always a big hit and can be spruced up by allowing the girls to dress up as princesses or make princess hats to wear while they enjoy their movies.
