All children need a day where they can kick back and get all of their sillies out, and what better opportunity than a sleepover? In order to let your guests really go bananas, you need the right activities to break the ice. Take a look at a few of the following ideas that will have your sleepover guests giggling all night long!
Movie Character Dress Up
Picking a movie theme for the night is a great way to get your guests to use their imagination. Pick a popular movie or genre to be your theme, such as Harry Potter or Disney princesses. Be sure to state on the invitation that each child should come dressed as the character of their choice, preferably in a homemade costume. It's fun to see what each child comes dressed up as! It is also a fun idea to make a movie fest of the theme or specific movie that your sleepover is based off of. While your guests enjoy the movie(s) you can serve custom snacks and drinks that match the theme. For instance, if your theme is Harry Potter, you can serve your own "butter beer." All you need to do is put a dollop of whipped cream into the bottom of a glass and fill the rest of the glass up with cream soda. You can also serve "cauldron cakes" by topping ordinary chocolate cupcakes with red or green icing. You could also fill a dish with Jelly Belly jelly beans to imitate "Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans."
Mad-Libs
Mad libs can serve as a great ice breaker for the kids! A mad lib is a pre-written short story in which certain nouns, verbs, and adjectives are left blank. The children must be asked to provide the missing words before they read the story. The story can then be read aloud substituting the words that the children provided. The silliness and nonsensical story is sure to draw hoots of laughter from your kids! There are plenty of free online mad-libs that you can print straight from your computer. Try to print a mad-lib for each child to prevent boredom.
Mummy Wrap Game
The mummy wrap game is a great sleepover game to play when there are enough participants to be split into groups. The only supplies you will need for this game is a tube of toilet paper for each team of girls as well as one piece of scotch tape. Each group of girls must select one girl to wrap up in toilet paper similar to a mummy. The entire tube of toilet paper must be used continuously. If the toilet paper rips then the team must either start over with a fresh roll or forfeit. Your guests will get plenty of laughs from watching other teams attempt this difficult task, and the motivation of a goodie bag or prize can really spice up the competitiveness!
High Heel Races
When was the last time you tried to run in high heels? Imagine the fun that your younger sleepover guests can have with a high heel race! The only equipment you need for this silly sleepover idea is enough pairs of oversized high heels for everyone at your party and a makeshift finish line. Paper streamers work really well as a finish line!
Face Painting
Face painting is fun whether you have very young sleepover guests or teenagers. Face paint can be found at most craft sections in your local shop and is usually very cheap. If the paint that you buy doesn’t come with any brushes or sponges then you may want to invest in these as they will save you A LOT of application and cleanup hassle! Print off face painting instructions from the internet and encourage your guests to paint each other’s faces. If you have a theme for your party then you can specifically search for guides and face-paint ideas that correspond with your chosen theme.
